EXT. US/CANADA BORDER - NIGHT
The old Norton clunks into gear and rumbles to one of Canada
Customs ultra-modern, high-tech kiosk as the light changes to
green. The agent reads Hal's license from a monitor fed by
several video cameras and keys it into his terminal.
CANADA CUSTOMS
Where you from?
HAL
Seattle.
CANADA CUSTOMS
Destination?
HAL
Duh, visiting my cousin.
CANADA CUSTOMS
Can I see some ID please?
Hal indicates the US border station.
HAL
Duh, I think it's still over there.
ANGLE ON COMPUTER SCREEN
Displaying flashing "Warning - Apprehend" signs.
CANADA CUSTOMS
Would you pull over there please? Someone
will be with you in a moment.
Frustrated, Hal drives toward customs building. A late model
Viper painted in RCMP colors broods in the background. Three
Customs Officials come out of meet him. Hal drives close, as
if to stop, gunning it at the last minute and peeling down
the highway leaving the Customs Officials scurrying.
A TRAIN WHISTLE BLOWS AS Hal makes serious time down the
highway, gunning it when he hears a siren behind. Ahead,
several RCMP cruisers take up position to block the highway
at an underpass. They look at each other nervously when it
becomes apparent he isn't going to stop.
At the very last minute Hal swerves to the right and up the
embankment. Flying over the highway, he's down the other side
and back on his way without missing a beat. RCMP scramble to
take up pursuit.
When the RCMP cars appear to be gaining, Hal swerves to his
the left, into the ditch and across oncoming traffic.
The police try to follow. One cruiser gets stuck in the mud,
the other taken out by a truck full of chickens. The Viper
races across and continues the chase.
Hal desperately wrings as much as he can from the old bike,
but it's no match for the super-charged cruiser. As Hal races
to the crossing the train gets dangerously close. He's about
to make it when the bike starts stuttering and stalling.
HAL
Baby, don't fail me now.
It continues stuttering, slowing almost to a stop. Hal
frantically tries everything to get the bike going. Finally
he resorts to an act of desperation - he prays.
HAL (CONT'D)
Okay, I give. I'll never be selfish
again, I promise, now please...
The bike roars back to life and leaps across the road just in
time to miss the train, leaving the Viper on the other side.
INT. SECTION D, DULCE NEW MEXICO COMPLEX
The train slows as it enters the massive underground Dulce,
New Mexico complex. A multi-level hell of bizarre
experimentation parades past the windows; thousands of humans
and human mixtures in cold storage, hybrids of humans and
animals, genetic nightmares stalking back and forth in cages.
PRESIDENT
Where in hell are we?
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
Two and a half miles beneath Dulce, New
Mexico.
PRESIDENT
Why have I never been briefed?
SECRETARY OF STATE
You don't have "CODE WORD" clearance.
PRESIDENT
I'm giving you a direct order. What is
this all about?
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
The Grays were on the Mars and Moon bases
during the Wars of the Gods and weren't
hit with radioactive fallout. They still
live thousands of years but can't
reproduce.
The tAzoonians engineered them that way.
They're trying to make a hybrid that will
let them continue their species.
SECRETARY OF STATE
They made a deal with Hitler first. He
let them experiment on humans in exchange
for world control. When they saw we were
closer to the bomb they did a deal with
Eisenhower. The Grenada Treaty lets them
to use a limited number of humans. We get
advanced weapons technology.
PRESIDENT
You mean we won the war because of some
green aliens? What about the bomb?
SECRETARY OF STATE
They're gray sir. It was made to look
like it stopped the war to justify the
money spent. It's all in Professor
Quigley's "Tragedy and Hope."
PRESIDENT
And the millions who died at Hiroshima
and Nagasaki?
The train pulls to a stop.
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
Collateral damage sir. I believe this is
where we get off.
They disembark and approach an ultra-high-tech security
station at a central hub. Over 3000 real-time video cameras
keep vigil. tAzoonian symbol language is everywhere. Security
officers wear jumpsuits with the MJ-12 Symbol on the front
upper left side and carry a "Flash Guns". ID cards are used
in card slots for doors and elevators.
SECURITY
Destination?
BROTHER IGNATIUS
Sub-level 4.
SECURITY
Business?
BROTHER IGNATIUS
(indicating the President)
Processing.
SECURITY
Cleared.
The security officer motions to a processing room where
they're met by more security.
SECURITY 2
Move to a change rooms, remove all
clothing and personal effects including
jewelry and watches. Place them in the
containers. Your picture will be taken
when you stand on the scale. When you
hear a beep put on the supplied uniform
and reassemble in the next room.
PRESIDENT
What is this all about?
SECURITY 2
Standard security procedures sir.
EXT. BC SEA-TO-SKY HIGHWAY - NIGHT
TRACK with a nasty storm as it rolls over the ocean to shore.
TRUCK IN on Hal driving the twisted mountain highway as
thunder and lightening do their dance.
Rounding a corner, he sees a figure straining to push
something along the side of the road. He recognizes Nuke as
he passes.
HAL
What's he doing up here?
Through his rear-view mirror a BOLT OF LIGHTENING strikes
Nuke. Hal turns in time with the deafening CLAP OF THUNDER.
HAL (CONT'D)
If that ain't a sign, I don't know what
is.
He rides back to find Nuke smoldering on the gravel shoulder.
The putrid smell of burnt flesh mingles with rising smoke.
Hal holds his nose and does what he can to help the nearly
expired urban archeologist.
NUKE
Cough, your detachments progress well.
HAL
Detachments? Dude, I've lost everything.
All I got left is the clothes on my back.
And the bike...
NUKE
Yes, more work to do. Be quick. The end
times near. Cough, do you still have it?
HAL
What? That medallion thingy?
(checks pockets)
Shit, must be on the bus.
NUKE
Don't let them get it. Get it to him.
HAL
Him who?
NUKE
The Strange Attractor. Get it to him
before its too late.
HAL
Dude, what the hell are you on about?
NUKE
The Strange Attractoaaaghh...
Our perspective shifts as Nuke's consciousness is severed
from his body. Hal watches it drift into the astral realm.
HAL
Whoa, that's what happens when you check
out.
Something rustles in Nukes shopping cart, itself a casualty
of the lightening. Hal moves stuff around, finding a battered
oKee scrunched up inside. He is now yellow-green and glows
only faintly.
HAL (CONT'D)
You? I should have known.
OKEE
Heart?
HAL
I keep tellin ya its Hal, little...
Nuke's body glows brightly, vanishing in a ball of dazzling
white light.
HAL (CONT'D)
...dude, this shit just ain't right.
OKEE
He was heart...
HAL
Yeah, he was all heart. And look where it
got him. What's this shit about a weird
attraction?
OKEE
Must find love...
HAL
Don't we all...
The sound of wailing sirens becomes audible in the distance.
HAL (CONT'D)
Shit. We gotta get out of here.
INT. DULCE WAITING ROOM
The Presidents entourage assembles in their off-white Dulce
Uniforms with ID cards around their necks. The Secretary of
Defense picks up the conversation as they walk.
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
Hostilities broke out when the Grays
violated the treaty. Too many abductions.
People started asking questions. Things
settled down again when we set up this
base. We give them facilities and
prisoners, homeless, for experiments,
they give us technology: lasers, missiles
and bio-agents, that sort of thing.
They arrive at a super-sophisticated elevator, controlled by
a magnetic system inside the walls.
INT. DULCE ELEVATOR
PRESIDENT
Then all our history is wrong. We have an
obligation to let the people know.
SECRETARY OF STATE
No, we don't. Our obligation is to
prepare Earth for the tAzoonians return.
PRESIDENT
Do you know what you're saying?
SECRETARY OF STATE
We're reestablishing their control center
in the Middle East, stockpiling gold and
building craft to move it to Mars.
The elevator stops. As they disembark their ID's are
individually verified. A slide-walk moves them down the glass
and steel corridor.
SECRETARY OF STATE (CONT'D)
Our priority is to keep the programs
funded. If the population knew, they'd
ask questions and not like the answers.
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
Besides, we've already started
depopulation procedures. Soon there won't
be enough left to worry about.
PRESIDENT
Depopulation?
They arrive at a room where six 4 ft. Gray aliens wait.
BROTHER IGNATIUS
They requested we meet alone.
The door shuts behind the President and the Jesuit. After a
BEAT, the President screams, followed by a ZAP.
AIDE
Need-to-know basis only.
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
I have a squad waiting. I want to know
the moment they get his signature on that
intel order.
EXT. BC SEA-TO-SKY HIGHWAY - DAY
Rain makes the road like glass. Hal rounds a corner a bit too
fast, loses control and dumps the bike. He collects himself
from the bushes, then checks oKee's.
HAL
You all right?
OKEE
Pain. I need love...
HAL
Like I said, welcome to the club. Come
on, we gotta keep moving.
oKee scrambles onto his back. Hal notices he's near his
sunken boat.
HAL (CONT'D)
How come I keep landing in the same pile
shit? Damn, you weigh a ton. What've you
been eating?
OKEE
(tummy grumbles)
Nothing.
EXT. MOUNTAIN CLEARING - LATER
It's pouring now. A completely soaked and exhausted Hal
struggles to a nearby rise under oKee's ever-growing weight.
HAL
Damn, it wasn't a dream.
WHAT THEY SEE
At least a dozen Marines sporting MJ-12 insignia mill around
a makeshift command post with tables under tarps. The two
helicopters sit off to the side. One cold and miserable human
is caged in a wire compound by the woods while the remains of
Mikey's cabin can be seen smoldering in the distance.
HAL
It is Marion. You know, the girl? When we
found you? Over there, in that cage.
OKEE
sMother?
HAL
Whatever. Wait here.
oKee tugging on his clothes stops Hal.
OKEE
D-d-don't leave. Help must you.
HAL
I'm just going in for a closer look. Stay
right here til I get back.
Hal scrambles into the underbrush, leaving oKee alone.
EXT. MOUNTAIN CLEARING/CONTINUOUS TIME
Marion is lightly clothed, wet and miserable. Hal sneaks up
behind the pen.
HAL
Marion, it's me, Hal. Over here.
MARION
Hal? Just the guy I wanted to see. Hey
guys...
HAL
What are you doing? Trying to get me
caught?
MARION
Good idea. Damn, where's a marine when
you need one?
HAL
Remember the boat? That stuff about
leaving your body? It's hard to explain
but I know what you're talking about.
I've been there. I believe you.
Marion stops searching for a marine and shrieks.
MARION
You do? Nobodies ever believed me! It's
been happening all my life and everyone
thinks I'm a crazy blonde.
HAL
Shhh. Well, if you're crazy I'm a
lunatic. What's all this about?
MARION
Oh, they're after the little green guy.
Know where he is?
HAL
Maybe. What are they doing?
MARION
Something about satellites and blasting
under rocks and stuff. I wasn't really
paying attention.
ANGLE ON MARINES SETTING UP SATELLITE DISH
HAL
This can't be good. Wait here. I'll be
back to rescue you.
MARION
Like, what do you think you're doing?
HAL
I'm a roadie right? I screw up electrical
shit all the time, why not now?
He scuttles into the woods. Tracing the sound source to the
large helicopter, he sneaks up as the marines finish setting
the radar dish on the top of a rise. Spotting a junction box
he decides on a plan. There are tense moments as he inches
along on his belly, finally stopped by a boot in his back and
machine gun to his head. He stands with hands raised.
HAL (CONT'D)
Hi guys...what do you say, nice day for a
hike woods? I'll be going then...
HICKS
Yeah, you're going all right.
The butt of a rifle lands on Hal's jaw, knocking him out
cold.
